Scuba Diving in the Riviera Maya

The Riviera Maya is known for its location facing the Mesoamerican reef, the second largest reef system in the world after Great barrier reef in Australia. The reef offers a huge variety of dive sites and environments from coral walls to elaborate reef structures, including caverns and swim-throughs, and SCUBA diving in Playa del Carmen and Tulum quickly became worldwide famous.

The water is warm and visibility is generally excellent. Many sites are exposed to strong currents, but some are more sheltered and offer good conditions for easy and relaxing dives. Additionally, some sites may be deeper than an Open Water certificate allows, making the Riviera Maya a great dive location for beginners and advanced, more adventurous divers alike.
